Arnold Food Pantry Day

February 1st, 2013 was proclaimed “ARNOLD FOOD PANTRY DAY” by Ron Counts, the mayor of the city of Arnold. Our organization was started 35 years ago and is recognized as the largest non-denominational food distribution center in the St. Louis region that receives no government help.

Arnold Food Pantry

Our mission is to provide life sustaining food to those in need, and to treat each person we serve with dignity and respect. The Pantry does more than just provide supplemental food to families and individuals experiencing hunger and poverty in our communities. Arnold Food Pantry also assists neighbors in need with household necessities, toiletries and even pet food when available.

The Arnold Food Pantry welcomes one of its newest partners, Missouri-American Water Company.  Pictured are its representatives making a $5,000 donation to Chairperson and President Phil Amato. Amato said the donation could not come at a better time as the proceeds will be used to purchase a new van. The pantry vans retrieve food every day from grocery stores, food that is in turn given to those in need.

The Character Council of Antonia Middle School worked hard to promote their dance to benefit Arnold Food Pantry. The funds received were used to purchase over 400 lbs of much needed food and grocery items. Executive Director Ed Fitzhenry remarked, “It’s gratifying to see students in our community coming together to fight food insecurity. They realize, too, there are students like them that wake in the morning and are unsure about their next meal. We can all learn a lesson from them.”

The pantry is encouraging businesses, organizations, churches and individuals to consider donating food and grocery items. A list of preferred items is below:

Chili  – Canned Fruit – Jello
Cookies  – Canned Vegetables
Soups  – Big Can Pasta Sauces  – Pop Tarts
Laundry Detergent
Macaroni & Cheese – Ramen Noodles
Hamburger Helper
